CHAMBER HISTORY

The Green Lake Area Chamber of Commerce was established in 1965 and is now in its 43rd year. It currently has over 200 members. In 1995 the Chamber moved to its current location and purchased the building April 1st 1998. The Green Lake Area Chamber started out as a part time information center, located in Playground Park and now is open year around. Annual events sponsored by the Chamber are : Summer Solstice, Concerts In The Park, 4th of July Celebration, Golden Days Harvest Festival, October Women's Month, Winterfest and Christmas By The Lake. The Chamber is involved in Art Fair and the Chili Cook-Off and several other activities each year. The Chamber is financed by the members investments in dues, by Room Tax which is shared with the City of Green Lake and the Township of Brooklyn and fund raisers throughout the year.

2007--2008 Membership Fees


Full Basic Membership: Includes the right to vote, advertise in Chamber publications, place literature in the Chamber office, receive the Chamber's quarterly newsletter, receive the monthly e-newsletter, receive a 20 word listing in the Green Lake Visitors Guide (if membership is received before the end of September for the following year) and on the Chamber Web-site, with a link to your website and fully participate in all activities of the Chamber. The Chamber will update this membership listing on the website once a year.  (The only other updates to your listing on the website would be change of address, phone number or website address.)

Enhanced Membership Level I: Includes the Full Basic Membership as well as the ability to edit and increase your word description to a total of 75 words, with an enhanced link. Cost, $50.00 in addition to Basic Membership. (See additional information below).

Enhance Membership Level II: Includes the Full Basic Membership as well as 2 photos or one photo and your logo, up to 75 word description and specials page, with an enhanced link.  this Membership would also include your events listed on the Chamber's Calendar of Events webpage. Cost, $150.00 in addition to Basic Membership. (See additional information below).

With the Enhanced Memberships you would be issued a password and would have the editing control and privilege of updating your information on your own website. (The Chamber reserves the right to review your information and remove any inappropriate material that is questionable, controversial or possibly harmful).

Definitions of Membership Qualifications

  • Total number of employees includes sole proprietor.
  • A full-time employee is considered as 30 hours or more per week.
  • Part-time employees will be considered as 29 hours or less per week.
  • Two part-time year round employees will equal one full-time employee.
  • Annual due date will be August 1 for the following year. Dues will be prorated prior to August 1.
  • Additional Listings: $100.00 per listing, which has to be an entity to the primary business.

Payment Terms

Members have the option to pay installments, but all dues must be paid in full in 90 days.  For Renewing Members that are not paid in full by the 90 days, they will be removed from the Chamber Membership.

Businesses

  • Owner, plus the maximum number of full-time equivalent employees over the course of a 12 month period.

  • $20.00 additional per bedroom for Lodgers that do not pay room-tax to the City of Green Lake or Township of Brooklyn. This amount will be used strictly for marketing and promotion. Please pay by separate check to the Green Lake Advertising Account.  The City of Green Lake has increased room tax by 2% with this monies being used for the Chamber's new marketing campaign.

Campgrounds will be assessed a $1.00 per site fee up to 300 sites.

  • An additional $.50 per site to be paid by Campgrounds if they do not pay room-tax to the City of Green Lake or Township of Brooklyn for advertising. Please pay by separate check to the Green Lake Advertising Account.

Associate Membership

Dues--$99.00. Associate membership evidences support of the organization and is available only to non-profit groups, clubs and/or organizations. Associate members receive the Chamber mailings and may participate in Chamber activities.


Supporting Membership

Dues--$70.00. Supporting Memberships are private individuals which are not promoting a business venture. Supporting members receive the Chamber mailings and may paricipate in Chamber activities.

Enhancing Membership Additional Information:  Business Category Hits have more than doubled in the last five years, from approximately 100,000 to 260,000 per year.  Due to this increase we are offering Enhancement Memberships.(If you do not have your own computer you cold use the computers located at the Caestecker Public Library in Green Lake or most public libraries have computers available for public use.)

Enhanced Membership Level I:  You would receive a user name and password giving you to ability to add and edit up to a total of 75 words on your very own additional webpage.  This would give you a "More Information" link on your Chamber website listing. When a visitor is on the Chamber website and clicks on your "More Information" link this will not take them to your website or off the Chamber website, but open a separate webpage with your verbiage on it.  Suggestions for your additional words would be your specials, a sample of your menu, more detailed information about your business, etc.

Enhanced Membership Level II:  You would receive a user name and password giving you to ability to add and edit up to a total of 75 words along with the ability to add 2 photos or one photo and your logo on your very own additional webpage. Suggestions for your additional words would be a sample of your menu, more detailed information about your business, etc. This would give you a "More Information" link on your Chamber website listing. When a visitor is on the Chamber website and clicks on your "More Information" link this will not take them to your website or off the Chamber website, but open a separate webpage with your verbiage on it.  You would have the ability to create an ad promoting your business specials, which would be shown on a Chamber Specials Webpage.  Also this Level would include having the Chamber Staff list your events on the Calendar of Events on the Chamber's website. All events must comply with the Chamber Website's Calendar of Events Policy.
