The Green Lake Area Chamber now offers it's Calendar of Events in an exciting new format, RSS. Using our RSS Feed, you can bring the event listing directly into your own computer or website.

What's an RSS Feed?
RSS stands for "Really Simple Syndication" It's an XML-based format for distributing and aggregating web content such as news headlines. Most major news publications such as CNN, BBC and Rueters provide RSS Feeds. An RSS Feed is a great way to distribute information in a common format to other websites.
Who would use it?
An RSS Feed could be used by an individual or a business (website).
Many individuals today us iGoogle, Yahoo or MSN for their home page. These services allow users to easily incorporate RSS Feeds directly into their own home page. What better way is there than to distribute Green Lake area events right to individual's computers when they connect to the Internet.
More businesses today are incorporating RSS Feeds into their websites than ever before. An RSS Feed is a great way to bring, live, fresh content to your website with no maintenance. The nature of RSS Feeds insist that the information be refreshed automatically at some interval. The Green Lake area events feed would allow, say a local place of lodging or a restaurant, to incorporate the chamber-maintained, listing of local events, right on their own website. Once the feed reader is set up, the data is always available and fresh.
Chamber members are encouraged to incorporate this new feature into their own websites. Bring current event information into your site and help promote the area at the same time.
How do I use it?
As a business/website owner, you should contact your web developer to incorporate the feed into your website. A website script, called an RSS Reader, will need to be incorporated into your site to access the Green Lake feed. Once it is set up, there is no additional maintenance required.
The Green Lake feed is updated daily at 5:30 pm Central time to ensure fresh and up-to-date information.
What does it look like?
